3 Year Well Check Shenanigans & More

Corbin had his 3 year well check today after we picked Cason up from school. Scott went with us because he was already home from work and I can't decide if him being there made it worse or better????

The kids were NOT on their best behavior today---that's for sure.

Cason was playing on my phone when the doctor walked in. The doctor was trying to ask Corbin some questions and Cason kept answering for him of course. I was still trying to fill out the 3 year well check questionnaire when Corbin pulled Cason's hair (I did not see him do it). I turned around to find Cason using both hands to pull Corbin's hair and then he says to Corbin, "See how it feels, don't pull my hair again". Nice.

I then had to move Cason to a separate corner of the very small room and have him sit on the floor away from Corbin. I also took away my phone and Cason had a good little fit about that. Corbin then runs over to me and in front of the doctor asks if I am going to spank Cason. At this point the doctor  thinks we have no control over our children and asks me when baby #3 is due. LOL.

More shenanigans continue and then it is finally time for their flu mists. They gave Corbin his flu mist first and he did great---no problems. Cason has had the mist several times and done fine. He even had the shot last year and didn't get upset at all.  But today, he decided he was scared, so it took 3 of us to hold him down while he was kicking and screaming bloody murder. I seriously don't know what got into him!

I was good and embarrassed by the time we were leaving----we had even more whining from Cason as we checked out because I wouldn't let him have a sucker or a sticker (because somehow he thought he deserved one????)

Other than that, the appointment went fine. Corbin looks good and moved up from the 41% to the 45% in weight. It cracks me up that he eats more than Cason but is still so tiny. The doctor expressed to us again his concerns over the size of Corbin's tonsils. I don't know if I have written about this before but at Corbin's last dental visit the dentist said we needed to talk to our doctor about the size of his tonsils.  Then, at Corbin's 2.5 year well check the doctor said we needed to visit with our ENT. Corbin's teachers at school last year would tell me everyday about how loud he would snore during nap time---they even took videos to show me. Therefore, we told our ENT all this at our check up in July. He referred us to go have a sleep study done with Corbin before we decided what do to about Corbin's tonsils. We decided to wait a little bit to see if things got better.

However, the pediatrician was even more concerned today. He asked us if he was still snoring---YES. And he asked us if he kept his mouth open a lot. I said yes, and that it was on my list to ask him about drooling at our visit today. The past few months Corbin has been drooling a lot (he is not teething, he has all of his teeth). I was wondering if that was normal for a 3 year old. He said no, and that he was probably drooling because he was keeping his mouth open a lot because he can't breathe very well because of the size of his tonsils. I felt horrible after that---I never thought the two things could be related. He just feels that since Corbin already has pectus excavatum, that he didn't need to also have his tonsils causing any breathing problems.

We told him our ENT wanted a sleep study first and although he didn't really seem to agree, he told us to go ahead and set it up. So, Corbin and I are going for an overnight sleep study next Tuesday. They said they will have to hook him up to 33 wires!!!! How on earth am I going to keep a 3 year old from pulling them off????

Corbin's Stats:

Weight: 31.2 pounds (45%)
Height: 38.5 inches (74%) --- he dropped a little on the % chart for height but the doctor thinks that since this was the first time they measured him from a standing position that maybe they were off at his last appointment with the chart that you lay down on.

What Corbin's been up to lately...

*Very concerned with emotions. Wants to know if you are happy, sad, or mad. He also wants to tell us how he is feeling all the time and show us his happy, sad, and mad faces.
*When he doesn't get his way, he runs away saying, "I'm mad at you" or "You made me sad".
*Corbin is a lefty.
*He is wearing 3T clothes and size 8.5 or 9 shoes.
*He loves his balance bike and doesn't want to take the time to learn how to pedal on a tricycle.
*Corbin is completely potty trained and doing great.
*He talks all the time now. It's crazy that in January he was just saying a couple of words and now he talks in long sentences!
*Corbin loves to ride his bike, read books, play with trucks and cars, play outside, go on golf cart rides, go swimming, and pretty much do anything with Cason.
*He loves sharing a room with Cason and he is quite the chatterbox after we put them to bed at night.
*He wants to try to do everything by himself. He is constantly telling us, "Let me do it by myself".
*Corbin still has trouble with C's and still refers to himself as "Porbin"
*Corbin is really pretty good at sharing (much better than Cason was). Maybe it is a second child thing?
*He LOVES the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He is going to be Michelangelo for Halloween.
*Some of his favorite foods are meatballs, PB& J, pizza, raspberries (ras-babies), and blueberries.
*He has no problem telling things that are not the truth. For example, he will come tell me that Scott pushed him down or someone kicked him in the face when no one is anywhere near him.
*Very lovable and LOVES to be held.
*Corbin still is obsessed with Scott and his blue blanket lovey.
*He can say the sweetest things---today he told me that he loves to be with me and that I am so pretty :)
*Corbin loves to lift my shirt and kiss and hug Chloe. For some reason he believes that my shirt MUST be lifted and he even tries to do this in public.
*Corbin seems to be saying and doing things that Cason was definitely not at this age (naughty things) but I guess it is because he learns it from his older brother---LOL

Tomorrow is Corbin's first day of school. I'm praying that he does great and does not get upset :)

Sorry for the LONG post but I keep this blog as our scrapbook so I want to be sure to add everything as it happens :)
