14 Months Old

Corbin, you are 14 months old already! What have you been up to this month?

*You are wearing 12 month clothes and even a couple of 18 month items.
*You wear a size 5 shoe.
*You wear a size 4 diaper.
*You eat 3 meals a day with milk in a sippy cup. You take one bottle of formula at bedtime. You still only have about 10 oz of liquid a day---liquids are not your favorite thing. You do however LOVE solid food. Your daddy says you eat like a man. You are not picky at all and you eat tons of food at meal times.
*You are definitely allergic to eggs. We thought maybe because of your allergy test that you were just allergic to egg yolks because it didn't show that you were allergic to egg whites on the test. Well we cooked you egg whites (from an egg white only carton so we wouldn't accidentally give you some yolk) yesterday and a just a short while later you were covered in a rash. I just don't understand why it didn't show up on your test but every SINGLE time we have given you eggs, you have broken out in hives so no more eggs for you.
*You take two naps a day and sleep 7:00-7:00. You are a great sleeper!
*You got a new bottom tooth this month---you now have 7 teeth. You are usually so happy and content but the past week you have been fussy and clingy----I think you may be getting more teeth very soon.
*You started WALKING! You walk more and more each day and you can even stand up by yourself from a sitting position without holding on to anything. We are so happy about this!
*You can say mama, dada, and bye-bye and that's about it for now.
*You seem to prefer your left hand when using utensils. You may be a lefty like your daddy.
*Your favorite thing to do is push cars and trains around on the floor! You are very good at keeping yourself entertained----as long as I'm close by :)
*You LOVE Cason and you want to be close to him and play with him all the time. I love watching the two of you together :)
*You have found your temper and you are not afraid to use it. You really know what you want lately and if we don't give it to you, boy you can get MAD. It's funny because it is so unlike you to throw a fit but I guess I should have known it would happen sooner or later. I found this post from when Cason was 14 months old and throwing fits too. I also found this post of Cason when he was 14 months old and he was taking his diaper off all the time---so funny!
*Even though the fits have started, you are still such a happy baby the majority of the time and an absolute joy to be around---we love you Corbin Ray!

I just thought it was hard to get pictures of you before, now it is nearly impossible to keep you still!

You have also learned how to open doors---just great!!! Now our tactic of just shutting all the doors as a form of baby proofing will no longer work.

Look Mom! No Training Wheels!

We got Cason a balance bike (bike with no pedals) a couple of months ago after we saw how well it helped our neighbors Hudson and Luke learn to ride a bike without training wheels. They weren't even 3 yet when they started riding a bicycle---amazing! We've been letting him ride it a lot and he was getting a lot better on it but I thought it would still be quite a while before he was ready to start testing out a real bicycle.

However, we were over at their house on Thursday afternoon and Cason kept wanting to try out one of their bicycles. Hudson and Luke are so fast on them and he wants to do everything they do. I was SO nervous but Suzie just help him gather his balance a few times and he got the hang of it. He never even had to have training wheels and he's only 3. I can definitely say that balance bikes work wonders! Plus the fact that Cason loves Hudson and Luke and wanted to do everything that they were doing. He is no expert by any means but it was such a great start---and VERY unexpected! I guess we will need to write a letter to Santa asking for a bike for Christmas :)

Scott was at the deer lease on Thursday so I had to video it for him and tell him that Suzie taught his son how to ride a bike---LOL!!!

This and That

Corbin is working really hard on his walking skills. He still prefers to crawl but he can take several steps in a row now. He has been loving Cason's train conductor hat lately so we have several photos of him wearing it :)

Cason LOVES his dinosaur slippers. He wanted to go to Home Depot with Scott the other day wearing them and we let him---it's called choosing your battles---ha!

We went to the pumpkin patch in Celina with the Kempsons and had a blast! Cason and Madi were so cute walking around holding hands---I just love them!

Our new favorite play dough recipe!!! I tried this recipe and it is my favorite so far....

I liked the recipe as it was but I read on a blog that it worked really well to switch the vegetable oil for baby oil so I made one batch with vegetable oil and one batch with baby oil and Scott and I both thought the one with the baby oil was the best. So out of 5 play dough batches this is my favorite....

Ingredients
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1 tablespoon baby oil
  • food coloring for color, any color glitter for sparkle, and scents are fun to add in as well. You can use any of the liquid extracts for scent, a package of sugar free jello for scent, or even various spices----nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice, etc.
Instructions

Mix together all the ingredients in a 2 quart saucepan. Cook over low/medium heat, stirring constantly. Continue stirring until the mixture is much thicker and begins to gather around the spoon.
Remove the dough onto wax paper or a plate to cool.

And last but not least---I VOTED today. Glad to be done with that!

Fun with friends

We went to the State Fair with the Kempsons on Sunday and we had a great time! It was VERY crowded but the kids didn't mind at all. Cason and Madi were even able to ride a few rides with no adult accompanying them----can you believe they are already old enough to do that!!!! They are SO cute together!

Mouth full of food :)

We love hanging out with our neighbors---the boys always have a great time together!!! We went to a church in Carrollton that had an awesome play area last week and the best part was it is open everyday AND it is free!

Siblings and Skeletons

These two little boys just fill my heart with JOY! They love each other so much and enjoy playing with each other MOST of the time :)

Corbin got a new tooth this week and is working on getting more! He is trying to bite Cason's hand in this pic but just because he's teething :)

Peek-a-boo!

My boys in their skeleton pajamas :)

Corbin standing :)

He can stand for a bit and walk anywhere from 5-10 steps but he prefers crawling and is not quite walking yet.
