State Fair of Texas

We went to the State Fair on Friday (opening day) and had a great time. We usually would have not ventured out on Opening Day but we are on a very limited time schedule as we are hoping for Chloe to arrive this next week. It actually wasn't very crowded at all which made it much more enjoyable than usual. The kids rode rides together, had cotton candy, played games with daddy and won prizes to bring home (a.k.a. JUNK), we all rode the ferris wheel, we picked up some soup mixes to use this winter, and then we all had lunch. Scott got a fried cheesecake for us all to try out but we were not very impressed. We walked around for almost 4 hours and it did NOT put me into labor (unfortunately).

Sleep Study Results

Corbin and I went back to visit with our ENT today and get his sleep study results from last week. The study showed that Corbin does have sleep apnea--he has what is called obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in a child.


In children, an apnea-hypopnea index greater than 1 (average: 0.1 to 0.5 events per hour) or a minimum oxygen saturation of less than 92 percent (average: 96 percent ± 2 percent) is considered abnormal. The apnea-hypopnea index is calculated as the average number of apneas and hypopneas per hour of sleep.


So the ENT told me the same info listed above---that any child with an apnea index greater that 1 is considered to have sleep apnea. Corbin's index score was 6.1 which he said is high for a child and especially him considering that he already has his adenoids removed. His oxygen saturation was at 90% which is also not good.

Therefore, Corbin will be getting his tonsils removed and the ENT thinks that will resolve the sleep apnea along with a long list of other symptoms that we didn't know could be a result of enlarged tonsils.

We are hoping and praying that sweet little Chloe will make her arrival sometime next week. If she does not decide to come on her own between now and October 8th, I will be having a c-section. So obviously we are going to have to wait to have Corbin's surgery until after she is born. It will most likely be in November sometime. We would love your prayers for little Chloe and Corbin :)

Also, if you have had a child that has had their tonsils removed---I would LOVE any advice you might have for the recovery time.

Chloe's Nursery

Chloe's bedding came from be-dazzled in Fairview. They spent lots of time helping me pick out exactly what I was looking for and I LOVE how it all turned out! They helped me pick out the entire room from the bedding to my wall paint color---I'm so thankful for all their help! 

I'm SOOOOOOO thankful/blessed that I have so many sweet friends who had little girls before me. They have filled Chloe's closet and dresser!!!! Thank you girls!!!!

We had Noteworthy Home paint Corbin's furniture white and we are in love with it! They came and picked up his furniture, painted it, and delivered it back here when it was all finished. They do amazing work! Here is a look from before it was painted...

Craft Time & More

I've enjoyed being crafty the past few weeks while I'm still pregnant. I know once little Chloe gets here, I won't have much time to be crafty.

Here is a sneak peek of Chloe's Halloween costume (purchased from Etsy). The boys are going to be the blue and orange ninja turtles and Chloe is going to be the purple one :)

Sick season has me so worried with a newborn on the way. The new respiratory virus has me very scared and there has already been a letter sent home from the boys' school of a confirmed case of the flu. Please KEEP AWAY if you think you are sick---LOL. I stocked up on my On Guard essential oil products this month. Hopefully we will all stay healthy.

I love checking things off my to do list! I am trying to get everything I can checked off before she gets here :)

Of course there is plenty more I need to accomplish---LIKE PACKING MY HOSPITAL BAG :)  and hopefully I will get that accomplished later this week.

Sleep Study for Corbin

Well Corbin had his sleep study Tuesday night and it was definitely a long night. I am shocked at how well Corbin did---I was so proud of him!!!

Corbin did not take a nap at school on Tuesday and he usually goes to bed at 7:30. Therefore, when we got there at our arrival time of 8:30, Corbin was already very tired. They got us all checked in and started hooking him up to the wires a little before 9:00. They put wires everywhere! He had several on his scalp and on his face. He did not care for the one in his nose but he didn't complain too much or try to pull it out. He seriously sat in his chair very nicely and calmly the whole time they were hooking up the wires---I was shocked! The guy said he was shocked too---that most kids try to pull them off or they are crying but Corbin was just fine. We laid him down in the bed around 9:40 to watch cartoons while they were checking to make sure all of the wires were working properly and that sweet boy fell right asleep. The lights were on and we weren't even finished and he was snoring---he was exhausted! 

Then the real fun started. Every time Corbin changed positions, one of the wires would come off and then the tech would have to come in with his flashlight, glue and tape and put the wire back where it belonged. Sometimes Corbin would sleep throughout the process and sometimes he would wake up for just a little bit. I was in charge of holding the flashlight for the tech. Corbin had one wire on his thumb that came off SEVERAL times. Around 3:15 it came off 3 times in a 20 minute period. Every time I could feel Corbin move, I tried to immediately sit up and grab his arms before he pulled anything off on accident but I obviously was not very successful. Corbin did SOOOO good though. He never tried to pull them off on purpose and even when he would wake up during the wire reattaching process, he would just lie there very still and let the guy do it without a fuss and go right back to sleep. That poor tech had to come in our room a million times but he was nice every time. He said that usually happens with little kids. They woke us up around 6:00 to go home and after they finally got all the wires off---poor Corbin had glue/goop all over him. I had to hold him under the sink in the bathroom to get all that goop out of his hair :)

I'm so glad that is over with and that Corbin did so good. Now we just have to wait about a week for our results...
