Miss Lucy Turned ONE!!!

We went to Lucy's birthday party today and had a wonderful time! I can't believe she is already one. They did such an AMAZING job on everything---the party was just fabulous!!!

We tried to get a picture with all the kiddos but as usual, it is quite a hard task. Wouldn't Erin look great with 6 or 7 kids???!!!

Rangerette Friends

Getting to see my sweet Rangerette friends this week made me really miss my time in Kilgore. It was truly the most amazing 2 years and I will cherish those memories forever. I have so many amazing pictures I would love to post, but since I have not taken the time to scan any of them to my computer, I will post some that my friend Mindy scanned. I "borrowed" most of these from her Facebook page--thanks Mindy! Yea 60th line---I love you!!!

Catching up...

It has been a few days so I guess I have a bit of catching up to do....

*First of all, my AMAZING friend Wendie, redesigned my blog and I just LOVE it!!! Thank you Wendie!!!

*We went to Tyler this weekend to visit family and had a great time. My brother Blake, turned 26---Happy Birthday Blake!

*Thirdly, we went back to the ENT doctor on Monday for our follow up visit and everything was great! He said the ear tubes were open and working perfectly. All the fluid had been drained and his hearing was back to normal--all good news! We go back in 6 months for another check up.

*My friend from college came to visit us Sun-Wed and it was so good to catch up with her. Carrie, I'm so sad that I didn't get any pictures of you and Cason---next time we need to make sure and get one (I just hope he didn't scare you out of wanting to have kids---LOL)! Carrie and I also got to catch up with Tori and Emily (our Rangerette friends) and we had a terrific time. I loved getting to spend some girl time together---we need to do that more often---love you guys!!!

*Yesterday was little Miss Lucy's 1st birthday. We celebrated at My Gym and then had a great lunch together. Thankfully, Cason behaved himself this week at lunch. Happy Birthday Lucy---we can't wait to help you celebrate on Saturday!!!

*Lastly, Scott built Cason a toy chest and he did a great job. Thank you Scott---it is working out great!!!

Body Parts

We caught Cason on video this afternoon in the car while he was willing to label a few of his body parts---he will only do it when he wants to. He knows his head, hair, ears, belly button, tongue, and toes. He will not point to HIS eyes, nose, or mouth but he will point to MY eyes, nose, and mouth--who knows why he won't point to his own.

Terrible Ones????

Sometimes Scott and I feel like Cason has entered his terrible 2's early. Maybe the worst is yet to come or maybe he did start early--only time will tell.  He has started doing this high pitch screaming ALL the time. Sometimes he is mad and sometimes he is just doing it for no reason other than to hear his voice. In fact lots of times if you look at him while he is doing it, he will have a smile on his face. And if you tell him no, he just gets louder. This is no big deal at home of course, but it can be quite difficult when you are out in public. Today we went to lunch like always after our My Gym class and they sat us next to these 3 ladies who were having several martinis during the middle of the day. You could tell by the look on their faces that they were not thrilled to be sitting next to 3 babies. They were of course terribly annoyed by all the screeching and eventually changed tables to get away from us. I hope this screaming gets better soon or I guess we won't be going to restaurants for a while.

In addition to screaming, you can also add in throwing fits, shaking his head no to everything, refusing to eat, testing his limits several times a day, resisting diaper/clothing changes, running away from me, throwing things when he is mad, wanting to do everything himself, and the list could go on and on. We like to call it the terrible 1's and maybe in a few months it will be called the more terrible 2's. Whatever you want to call it, he is still the most precious little boy in the world and I couldn't be happier that I get to hang out with him everyday. I love him sooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

San Antonio

We took Cason on his first road trip to San Antonio this past weekend and it was definitely an experience. First of all, it took us 7 hours to get there both ways because of pit stops and Austin traffic---and Cason did not love being in the car that long (and I don't blame him--I didn't either). For whatever reason, he decided that he did not want to sleep in the car at all. We even had him skip his morning nap so he would be extra tired but that just backfired and made him extra fussy. I have no idea why he didn't want to sleep in the car but I hope he learns to like it again soon.

The first night, after not getting his 2 naps, we figured he would sleep good. Again, we were wrong, he was up for most of the night and got up early. So we decided to take him to the hotel pool for some early morning swimming and he had a great time--he LOVES the water. We didn't take the camera to the pool and I wish we would have. After swimming, he took a great nap---thank goodness. We spent the rest of the day site seeing. We walked on the river walk, saw the Alamo, and did a little shopping. We even ate dinner ate our favorite little Mexican restaurant on the Riverwalk--so yummy! He slept great the next night---8 to 8---thank goodness :).

Sunday, we got up early and went to Sea World, we didn't know if he would like it or not but he did pretty good. The first thing we did was take him by a dolphin pool and one of the dolphins swam right next to him and he got scared---bottom lip stuck out and everything. We were laughing but Cason was not thrilled. He loved the aquarium and we even got him to watch the Shamu show. It was SOOOOOOOOOO hot outside, but it is hot everyday so that was nothing new. We are also 99% sure we saw Kim Kardashian walking around in 5 inch wedges and very short shorts.

When we left Sea World, Cason immediately fell asleep and we thought he would sleep for a while--wrong again! We pulled through a Whataburger drive through because it was after 1:00 and we were starving, and of course it woke him up and he stayed that way. We stopped by the Outlet Mall in San Marcus on our way home and the only person that got anything new was Cason--as usual.

All in all, it was a nice family trip and it was good to get away together. It was our first time to travel with him, and I'm sure it will get easier with each additional trip and as he gets older. Cason will never remember it but we will have the pictures to show him.
