2 Years Old

Corbin you are 2 years old!!! What have you been up to this month?

*We went to your 2 year check up and here are your stats:
-Weight: 27 pounds, 8 ounces (58%)
-Head Circumference: 19.5 inches (82%)
-Height: 36.8 inches (97%) The doctor and I both think this measurement is off. That would mean that he grew almost 4 inches which is a LOT. The doctor said we could have him remeasured before we left the appointment but then we forgot. I measured him at home---which is hard because he won't stand still but I measured to him to be around 35 1/2 inches which is about an inch off.
*You are wearing 18 month and 24 month clothing.
*You are wearing a size 7.5 or size 8 shoe and a size 4 diaper.
*Your words: dada, mama, more, ball, night-night, bye-bye, uh-oh, door, dip, no (you say this one a lot), shoe, dog, nose, mouth, eye, quack-quack, nana (banana), wawa (water), eat, bite,  thank you, and hi. You still use the signs for milk, please, eat, and blanket (blanket being the most important one---ha). Your speech is coming along slowly but surely.
*You know the sounds for lots of animals. Your favorite sounds to make are the ones for cow, cat, and dinosaur.
*Reading books, playing outside, dancing, following Cason around, and playing with vehicles (cars, trucks, trains, etc) are some of your favorite things to do.
*You love your blue blanket and want to take it with you EVERYWHERE!
*You give lots of hugs and kisses and you are great about sharing.
*You know how to throw a good tantrum when you don't get your way. You can scream very loudly---especially when we are in public of course.
*You are a great eater most of the time. You love meat but I think your favorite food right now is macaroni and cheese!  You like to feed yourself and you are pretty good with your utensils. You use your left hand the majority of the time for your spoons, forks, crayons, etc.
*You are a big daddy's boy.
*You will start school for the first time in a couple of weeks. You are getting to be such a big boy!!!
*You bring so much joy into our lives we love you so much Corbin!

HFM Part 2

Yes, Cason did get the dreaded Hand Foot and Mouth from Corbin but his rash wasn't very bad at all. I'm so thankful that this ended pretty quickly---it could have been much worse. We were finally able to get out yesterday for our first outing (other than our visit to the pediatrician) in 11 days!

Little Smarty Pants

Cason is still working hard on his reading skills. He really enjoys practicing. He told us the other night that he wished the book had more pages because he really loved reading (he probably partly wished that so he could prolong bedtime a few more minutes).

Quarantine

Quarantine "is used to separate and restrict the movement of well persons who may have been exposed to a communicable disease to see if they become ill.".^[1] The term is often erroneously used synonymously with isolation, which is "to separate ill persons who have a communicable disease from those who are healthy.

Being quarantined is NOT fun.  The boys and I have been quarantined for 4 days so far and we're not done yet :(

On Monday afternoon we took the boys out for snow cones. Corbin did not want more than two bites of his snow cone which was weird but he was acting fine so we weren't very concerned. On the way home he became hysterical in his car seat to the point that I had to crawl into the back seat with him (Scott was driving). Nothing I did could console him and he continued to scream nonstop the entire ride home. When we got out of the car he wouldn't let Scott hold him---he only wanted me---which if you know how much this child loves Scott, you would know that something was up. I immediately took him inside to check his temperature----sure enough 103 degrees!!! Poor baby did NOT feel good. We gave him some Tylenol and he just wanted me to hold him for the next couple of hours and I gladly did so. Then as we were watching tv, he preceded to throw up repeatedly all over me and himself right at bed time. So off to the bath we went and I was convinced he must have the stomach virus and that we were all going to get it within the next couple of days. However, he didn't get sick again for the rest of the night or the next day. He did continue to run a high fever all day on Tuesday and was very irritable. The nurse told us to come in on Wednesday if his fever wasn't gone and that he probably threw up because of his high fever.

On Wednesday he was still running a fever so I called early that morning to make an appointment and they told us to come in at 11:10. I noticed a small rash on one of his arms but other than that his only symptom was his fever. Between 8:00 and 11:00 the rash got worse and he started getting spots on his hands as well as his arms and then I knew------HAND, FOOT, AND MOUTH!!!

I have been dreading this virus since Cason was a baby! We saw our doctor and sure enough I was right. Poor thing has blisters on his hands, feet, arms, bottom, and all in his mouth! And since it is a virus there are NO medications we can give him other than Tylenol/Motrin. The doctor said he would be VERY surprised if Cason didn't get it too. So we are quarantined to our house and it is NO fun!

And I've been told that the rash peaks on day 4 (we are only on day 2 of the rash) and that it can take up to 3 weeks to completely go away!!! Corbin's 2nd birthday is Monday so poor baby will have all these blisters on his birthday :(  The doctor said they are only contagious while they have a fever and Corbin finally broke his fever thank goodness------so now we are just waiting for Cason's to start :(

All Corbin has really wanted is liquids and bananas. We ran out of bananas this morning and sweet Amy went and got us some at the grocery store---such a lifesaver!!!

Fun with Friends

We had some friends over yesterday for some end of the summer fun. It was great to see all the kiddos playing and having fun together! Thanks Kat for letting us borrow your super fun blow up water slide!!!

Sweethearts of the Gridiron

Sweethearts of the Gridiron is a documentary film about the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes that I LOVE so dearly!  They started filming in February of this year and they currently have two amazing featurettes on their YouTube channel.

I was a Rangerette from 1999-2001. It's so hard to believe 12 years have passed since my last performance as a Rangerette! My time in Kilgore were two of the best years of my life and I have so many memories and friendships from my time there that I will cherish forever. I am so excited to see this documentary---I know it will be AMAZING!

Grocery Store Bribery

Sometimes you just have to give them sweets to survive a trip to the grocery store....

No Pictures Please

I tried to take a picture of the boys before dinner last night and all I could get is:

* A 4 year old who woke up from his nap with a BAD attitude.
* A screaming child who has definitely entered the Terrible Twos and just wanted his lovey!

However, the daddy's boy did provide a couple of smiles while daddy was tickling him :)

Play Date Fun :)

Last week the Harrisons came over to play! The kiddos played and then we went out for a lunch date---we always enjoy getting to see them!!!

We met the Kempsons at the splash park on Friday. It was HOT but the kids had a great time---we are SOOOO happy they are back in town :)
