35 Week Appointment

I had my 35 week appointment today and everything is still going great. Corbin's heart rate was in the 140's and he is still head down (she said at this point, he won't flip so we are good to go). I am dilated to a 2 and my cervix has started thinning----she insisted that I didn't need to be worried about the progress. I'm all for making progress because I am VERY uncomfortable but I definitely don't want him to come too early and 35 weeks is way too early. She said that she thinks it is fine though and that it is common to start progressing early with your second pregnancy. We will know more when she checks me again next week. We will also have our last sonogram next week to check his size---I think he is going to be a big baby boy :) (27 days or less)

On a side note, Cason went #2 in the potty for the very first time today. I think it was by accident. He was trying to go #1 and when he looked in his little Elmo potty he was very distraught by what he saw. He wanted me to clean it immediately--LOL! We are not attempting to potty train him at this point though. He has a potty and we let him try to use it when he wants to (which is NOT very often). We are not pressuring him at all and we are happy to let him take his time. Frankly, I'm not quite ready for him to be diaper free just yet.

Cason's boots, Corbin's bed :)

Here are some pictures of Cason in his new rain boots----he wants to wear them ALL the time!!! It can be quite dramatic when it is time to take them off. There are also a couple of videos of him saying his own name---FINALLY :)

He looks like he is in the middle of a dance move in this last picture---ha!

Here are a couple of pictures of Corbin's bedding that came in. I will post more pictures of the nursery later when we get it all finished :)

Ears

We went for Cason's ENT appointment yesterday morning to check on his ears. His ears were better BUT the fluid had not completely cleared up. Since it is summer and not "sick season" the doctor said it is hard to guess how his ears are going to do without another set of tubes. There is a chance that the rest of the fluid can clear up (he said it could just be left over from his ear infection last month) and his ears will be able to function properly on their own. But there is also a chance with "sick season" coming right up that we will start the whole constant ear infection process over again and need another set of tubes.

He said there is no way for him to know which way it will go for Cason so he wants to hold off on the tubes for just a little bit and see how things go, especially since he will be starting back at his school at the end of August. After he starts school, I think we will know pretty quickly how his ears are going to do.

So, we go back at the end of October to check and see if the fluid is gone, if it is not gone by then we will get another set of tubes because at that point it will be obvious that his ears cannot clear up the fluid on their own. As long as there is fluid in his ear, he will have muffled hearing in that ear so it is not something that we want to ignore. Also, if we even have one ear infection between now and our appointment at the end of October, that also means immediate tubes. So for now, we just wait and see.

New Due Date

When I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago, the nurse kept saying to me that I was 32.5 weeks along even though my calculations were 31.5 weeks. So today when I went in, she kept saying I was 34.5 weeks (my calculations were 33.5 weeks). I asked the nurse when she thought my due date was and she said August 28th---I then had to explain that I thought it was September 4th. She said for me to talk to the doctor about it because they might have changed it due to a sonogram. Well, first off they had the first day of my last cycle in the computer as November 20th---when it was actually November 28th. Thats explains the due date mishap. However, when she looked at my first couple of sonograms, they showed my due date to be on or a little before September 1st. So after talking with the doctor, they have changed my due date to September 1st to match up with my first couple of sonograms because she thinks they will probably give a more accurate due date. I know that it is only a 3 day difference but it makes a big difference in when I get induced.

Now, instead of getting induced on Monday, August 29th---I will most likely be induced on Wednesday, August 24th. She will decide for sure in two weeks. I start going weekly now and I get my first "check" next Thursday to see if I have started to make any progress. I'm a little nervous to know because I have been having contractions like crazy and I don't want to have him too early. However, I was dilated to a 3 with Cason and 90% effaced for 3 weeks and I still had to be induced so I guess I can't get too concerned if I have already started progressing. I am also measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule so she is pretty sure he is going to be a big baby boy. I will have the sonogram in two weeks to check his size and then set the induction date. He is still head down and most likely won't move so that is very good news.

The only downside about being induced on the 24th instead of the 29th is that Cason is supposed to start Mother's Day Out that week. I was hoping that he would be able to go and meet his teacher and classmates that week but now we will just have to wait and see. Also, my last hair appointment is on the 17th----so please little Corbin do NOT come before then. Your mommy really wants to have her roots all fixed up before you are born (priorities)---LOL.

Good news for today----Corbin's bedding will be here tomorrow!!!

With the change of dates, that means I have 34 days or less!!!

Picture Catch-Up

I finally got my scanner working again so here are a couple of pictures I could finally scan....

These first few are pictures that Cason took at Mother's Day Out that his teacher gave me in his end of the year present.

Here is a sonogram picture from Corbin's 27 week appointment. However, it is not a very clear picture...

And here is my 8 week belly picture and my 33 week belly picture to compare...

Don't worry, I'm very aware of how big I am! At least once EVERY time I go out in public someone asks me if I'm about to have the baby any second. NO PEOPLE, I have 6 more weeks left!!!

In other news, Cason is just talking up a storm. I don't know what happened in the last week but something must have just clicked for him. He is saying tons more and repeating EVERYTHING!!! He is even saying his name correctly now----thank goodness!

Corbin's room is coming right along. The walls are painted, the furniture is in, all of Cason's clothes up to 12 months are washed and put away, baby items have been put together and stocked with new batteries, etc. We are still waiting on the bedding to come in. It should be here no later than the end of next week---but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will come in this week.

I am thoroughly enjoying the present and I also look forward to seeing what the future has in store for our precious little family. Happy Anniversary to us!!!

49 days or less

Today marks 49 days or less until little precious Corbin arrives! 49 days seems short when I think about all the things I still need to do and then at the same time it seems very long when I think about how hot it is and how uncomfortable I am.

In the next 49 days.....

*We need to finish Corbin's nursery. The walls are painted and the furniture is in but that's about it. I am working on washing Cason's baby clothes and putting them away in Corbin's closet and organizing all of Cason's baby items we stored. We still need several new things for Corbin but we do have a lot that we saved and can use from Cason's baby days. Corbin's bedding is set to ship on or before July 29th.

*I have 49 more days to suffer in this extreme Texas HEAT (all during the biggest and most uncomfortable part of my pregnancy). Of course I am set to have a baby on August 29th during the hottest summer since 1980. These are the temperatures for this week---and it is only the beginning of July. I can only imagine how horrible August will be. The last time I was pregnant, I only had to go to May 11th---the weather wasn't bad at all. AND last time I was pregnant, I didn't have a 2 year old who wanted to be outside ALL day long. It is so bad that when Scott and I want to say the word outside in front of Cason, we have to spell it to avoid an all out fit.

*Only 49 more days to spend with my precious Cason as an only child. I plan to cherish these last few days with Cason as an only child because I know once Corbin gets here, I will have to split my time between the two boys. Cason is used to having me all to himself, so I know this will be a big transition for him.

*49 more days to sleep all through the night (sort of). I am not sleeping great at night right now. Between the frequent bathroom trips and my inability to get comfortable, I am awake often during the night. However, I am not up having to feed and take care of a newborn----I can just lay in bed and relax right now. I plan to enjoy my last few nights of sleep!

*49 more days to enjoy nap time :). Right now, when Cason naps I have at least 2 hours to get things accomplished around the house, clean, do laundry, cook, or just rest if I need to. I know that this will soon be over and it will be a miracle if both boys are asleep at the same time. I plan to enjoy this.

*49 more days to get caught up on Cason's baby book! I really need to get up to date on our family scrapbooks before baby #2 arrives. I know I will get behind again but I would like to get caught up before Corbin arrives.

*49 days until I get to hold my new baby boy! I am very excited to meet sweet Corbin and hold him in my arms for the very first time.

We forgot to take our 32 week picture yesterday so hopefully we will get it taken sometime this week.

Cason news:

*He is 26 months old today.
*He has cut his two bottom 2 year old molars and is currently working on the top two.
*This weekend he decided that he would start saying:
Madi instead of Mama
Lucy instead of CiCi
Elmo instead of Melmo
*He can also say Corbin's name great and is working on his own name but hasn't got it down just yet. He mostly still calls himself "Ca" but now (with some pleading) he will sometimes call himself "Ca-shew". Like cashew but with a long a sound---LOL
*And sweet little Cason decided that my iPhone needed to go swimming in his kiddie pool Saturday so mommy had to get a new phone. Scott was filling up his kiddie pool with the water hose and I went inside to grab a bottle of water---I was inside for less than a minute and my poor phone bit the dust. Cason was throwing all his toys into the pool as Scott was filling it up and I guess he thought he might want to play with my phone while he was in his pool as well. Scott immediately grabbed it but it was too late. We tried rice, blow dryers, Scott even took the thing apart----we could not revive the phone :(
The bad thing is that Scott sat on his phone a couple of weeks ago and the screen is shattered. He really is the one that needed a new phone but now he has to wait until August--poor daddy.

Happy 4th of July

We went to a 4th of July party today that our sweet friends Kathryn and Brad hosted. We had a great time and Cason was SO glad to be out of the house We have been locked indoors since our doctors visit on Thursday so we were both getting a little stir crazy. Thank you Brad and Kathryn for the great party!

Here are a couple of great pics Betsy took. Thank you Betsy!

Cason and Cade in the Big D

Wendie and Cade came to Dallas for another summer visit. I wish we could have spent more time with them so I guess they will just have to come back again before summer is over :)

The first few pictures are of the boys playing at the house and the rest of the pictures are from our visit to the Children's Museum. Cason shirt is soaking wet in most of the pictures because he can't play with water without getting it all over himself :)

Click here to see pics from Wendie and Cade's visit to Dallas

Unfortunately, Cason woke up on Thursday morning just not feeling himself. He didn't have a fever or anything but you could tell he wasn't 100%. He was a little congested but he has outdoor allergies so I just thought maybe they were acting up. We decided to go ahead and try the Children's Museum and he did fine for the first little bit and then you could tell he was getting tired and ready to go so we left a little early. We took the boys across the street to McDonalds to have a quick lunch before heading home to nap. He did not eat anything and he just wanted to lay his head on my shoulder------SO NOT MY CHILD. He could not get to sleep for his nap and was very fussy so I decided to call and make a doctor appointment just in case. I honestly figured that his ears were probably infected like usual but they were not. By the time we got to our doctor's appointment, he had started running a low fever and was wheezing. We were at the doctor's office for almost 2 hours and his feet barely ever touched the floor. He wanted to be held the entire time. The doctor and nurses were really surprised by this behavior because he is always all over the place even when he is sick. My poor little guy has pneumonia AGAIN! The doctor said it is very uncommon to get pneumonia during the summer but I guess Cason fits into the small percentage of people that can get it during the summer. It is just so amazing to me that it comes on so fast. He went from okay to not good at all in a matter of hours---which is just how it happened last time. The doctor said that is just how it works and that is why they have to start treatment asap and be monitored. Cason even got sick to his stomach several times Thursday night after we left the doctor's office. He got sick last time he had pneumonia too but we were at the hospital then and they cleaned it up---cleaning up throw up is at the top of my least favorite things to do list!!!

So poor little Cason is back on antibiotics, steroids, and breathing treatments. He is already starting to feel a little better--thank goodness. So sad that Wendie and Cade had to cut their trip short but so happy for the time that we did get to spend together.

Picture Flashback....

Last year at the Children's Museum

This year at the Children's Museum

Thank you Brad!

Kathryn's sweet husband Brad made us the most BEAUTIFUL baby gate for our stairs! For the first few days, every time Cason would walk by the gate he would say, "Thank you, Brad". And we do thank you Brad-----it is working out so great and it is just beautiful. You are so very talented----thank you , thank you, thank you!!!

I don't know why the pictures turned out so dark....
