Catching Up

Cason's tubes went well on Friday morning. The last two times he has woken up from his anesthesia, he has been VERY upset! I mean screaming and crying for quite a while afterwards. I was nervous about how he would be when he woke up this time but to my surprise, he did great. He was very talkative and there was no screaming or crying at all. He ate two popsicles and then we were on our way home. THANK YOU SO MUCH JULIE FOR WATCHING CORBIN---YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! Cason was funny, when we first got home he couldn't even walk straight. We had to sit him on the floor or carry him to avoid him falling and getting hurt. It didn't last long though. I'm so glad that it is over with and hopefully the tubes will stay in and work properly.

On Sunday, Cason woke up wheezing and coughing. It got progressively worse even after a couple of breathing treatments. I had to take him to a pediatric after hours place to be seen because he was acting just like he did the last two times he has had pneumonia. We called the ENT but they said there was no way that the ear tubes were related to his breathing problems, especially two days later. He wasn't quite as lethargic as the times he had pneumonia but we were afraid it would turn into that. The doctor said she couldn't tell if it was pneumonia when we first got there because he lungs weren't moving well at all. So she wanted us to take a dose of steroids and have another breathing treatment and then let her listen again---she didn't want to do an x-ray unless it was absolutely necessary. Well Cason didn't want to take the oral steroids for whatever reason, it was probably just because he was feeling horrible. He got himself so worked up, he made himself sick. They had to hold him down and give him the steroids. I am still NOT happy that they didn't just give him the shot like we've had before. They finally got him to take them after he got sick 2 more times. And about halfway through his breathing treatment he calmed down and I could tell he felt much better. She listened to his lungs again and said it wasn't pneumonia but that his lungs were not clear so we are on steroids and breathing treatments for the next few days to help get him better. He was still wheezing this morning but he sounded tons better! Our pediatrician wants us to come in on Friday once we are finished with the steroids to make sure his lungs are clear. They said lots of kids are having problems with wheezing/coughing this allergy season so they want us to take Children's Allegra twice a day to see if that helps. We sure do get a LOT of use out of our nebulizer :)

Cason will be 3 on Friday----I can't even believe these three years have flown by so quickly! This was our conversation this morning while Corbin was napping:

Cason: Mommy, I will always keep you safe. (we tell him this all the time when he gets scared)
Me: Awww, that's so sweet Cason. I will keep you safe too.
C: I WILL keep you safe.
M: I sure do love you.
C: I love you too Mommy.

It was hard to believe three years ago that we would be having a conversation like this some day but here we are. He is wild and crazy but he has the SWEETEST heart. He makes be smile all day long. I LOVE that little boy SO SO SO much!

Today is Kathryn and Madi's birthday! Happy birthday you two-----we love you so much and we hope you are having a GREAT day!
