Our Weekend

May 11th was a VERY busy day. We had lots of things going on that day but most importantly, it was Cason's 4th birthday. I can't believe my baby is 4!

We were playing our last soccer game of the season at 8:00 a.m.

Cason played a t-ball game at 11:00...

4th Birthday Party at 3:30...

And we were at the Children's Medical Center Plano emergency room at 9:00 the next morning...

The night before Cason started coughing and had some slight wheezing so we gave him a breathing treatment before bed. He woke up at 3:30 and he was upset and having trouble breathing. I gave him another breathing treatment and tried to get him to go back to sleep but that never happened. I gave him two more breathing treatments and did not see any improvement--his breathing was just getting worse. The on call nurse said I needed to take him to the ER so off we went. We have never been to that hospital before and I was VERY impressed. Someone saw us within 5 minutes! All the nurses were great and the doctor was wonderful with Cason. His lungs were VERY tight when we arrived at the hospital and the doctor said that the breathing treatments weren't working at home because his lungs had gotten so tight that the Albuterol could not get to them. So they gave him a big dose of steroids and very large dose of Albuterol. We had to stay for a few hours to be monitored. It took his wheezing a while to ease up and his heart rate was very elevated from all the Albuterol so they had to wait for it to go down. He was very tired when we got home. He has NEVER once fallen asleep in our bed. I put him in the bed with me to watch a movie after he woke up from him nap and this was him a few minutes later....

He is doing MUCH better today---thank goodness! He has some slight wheezing but he is back to his active little self for the most part. We haven't had any breathing issues since October---I hoped he had outgrown it but I guess that is not the case just yet. We're praying that his little lungs get back to normal soon.
