Cason loves going to Bass Pro Shop. There was a shark there the other day and Cason was convinced that he needed to feed him a fish (It was a pillow in the shape of a fish) and he couldn't understand why he wasn't eating the fish---LOL
We got to see the Harrisons on Friday---it was so nice to see them and we can't wait for them to be back in Dallas!!!
We took Cason to the zoo today and he had a great time. He rode a camel with Scott and the Monorail train---he LOVES the zoo. Of course, when we were hot, tired, starving, way past nap time, and ready to leave---we arrive to our car to find one of my tires COMPLETELY flat. Boy was that fun---ha!
Corbin had his food therapy consultation a couple of weeks ago and they said that he does not qualify for food therapy. I figured this much because he EATS great. Food therapy is helpful for kids that don't like to eat different types of food, that gag on solid foods, have texture issues, etc. Corbin does not have problems eating any and all solid foods so he does not fit into that category. The drinking is where we have the problem. So once again, we didn't get any answers as to how to get him to drink fluids.
The day after his 1st birthday party we gave him scrambled eggs because you can have them once you turn one. He broke out in a rash all over but because he had eaten all kinds of stuff the day before at his birthday party (including cake) so we didn't know for sure if it was the eggs. Therefore, they told us to wait a few days and try again. We tried scrambled eggs again several days later---and rash all over again. So we can officially add eggs to our allergy list. We talked the the doctor about it and he is not too concerned right now but if he keeps having rash problems related to food, we will discuss allergy testing. For now, no eggs and no penicillin.
Corbin has started taking a couple of steps the past few days. He can only get in 2 or 3 steps before falling but that's a large improvement from having no interest in walking at all. I still think it will be quite a while before he is officially walking but we are starting to make some improvement at least. He is also starting to pick up on sign language---thank goodness because he sure doesn't talk yet and he has started using high pitch screams to let us know when he wants something. The only one he can do right now is "more". Once he is more consistent with it we will move on to other words. Oh and he is a BIG TIME daddy's boy right now----he loves to hang out with Scott :)
We had Corbin's 1 year check up this past week and he did great. The poor little guy had to get 4 shots! The main thing we talked about was his lack of fluid intake. We are starting to wean him off the formula and it's not making things any easier. He is now taking 10 ounces or less of fluid a day!!! I am constantly trying to give him milk/water and I'm always worried about it. The doctor wasn't too concerned about his milk intake as long as we are supplementing with cheese, yogurt, etc. His main worry is his fluid intake in general. Babies his age should be taking in 20-30 ounces of fluid a day. Obviously we are not even close to that but we are trying any and everything possible----different milks, different cups, different nipples on the bottle---you name it and we've tried it. The doctor said to keep trying and hopefully things will get better soon. The reality is that we can't force him to take it---we can just offer it as much as possible and hope for the best. As long as he is still having wet diapers, then he is doing okay. The doctor gave him an A+ on his report card and noted what a happy baby he is :)
Corbin's 1 year stats:
Weight: 20 pounds, 14 ounces (41%)
Height: 30 inches (50%)
Head: 18.3 inches (59%)
Big brother's 1 year stats:
Weight: 26 pounds, 5.4 ounces (90%)
Height 31 inches (80%)
Head 48.5 cm. (95%)
Obviously they are not on the same growth pattern---LOL
