15 Months Old

Time sure does fly by---I can't believe my little baby is already 15 months old! We had our checkup today and poor Cason had to get more shots :( Thankfully, dad was in tow to hold him down so I didn't have to.

Our little chunky monkey is at the top of the charts again:
Weight: 29 pounds and 3.4 oz (95%)
Height: 33.5 inches (97%)--He has grown 2.5 inches since his 1 year checkup
Head circumference: 49.75 (97%)

The doctor said he looks great and is right on track for everything. He thinks we have another bottom tooth coming in very soon and he said his top molars should be in within a month--but you never know for sure. It's so funny because I think a lot of parents come in with eating/sleeping issues and the doctor always asks us about that and we quickly move on. Cason is obviously a great eater and he is also a great sleeper. We were more concerned about how to deal with his new tantrum behaviors. He gave us a couple of tips and things to try but mostly told us that this was very common of kids his age so not to be overly concerned. It is just so hard to not take it personally when your child is hitting you but I am going to try and remember that this is a stage that he will pass through (sooner rather than later).

Cason, you are 15 months old! What have you been up to lately?

*You wear 18 month - 2T clothes depending on the brand.
*You have moved up to size 5 diapers.
*You take 2 naps a day and sleep 7:30-7:30 at night. Sometimes you are an early riser but most of the time you get your 12 hours.
*You eat 3 good meals a day with whole milk from a sippy cup and usually a snack or two as well.
*You are still working at using your utensils but lately you prefer to use them as teething toys.
*You got your very first hair cut on July 14th.
*You have been ear infection free since we got your tubes.
*Your language has really started to develop since you got your tubes put in. You are still not a big talker but I think your language is about to start taking off---better late than never :). It must be that you can hear us much more clearly now. You say mama ALL the time and I love it! You also say dada and bye-bye very clearly and pretty often. Some words you use sparingly are night-night, door, go, and dirt.
*You are starting to make animal sounds. You will try to make the sounds of a cow, monkey, and dog.
*You know and use sign language for more and all done. You use the sign for more very often chunky monkey.
*You also scream very loudly to get your point across when you want something. It is quite embarrassing when we are out in public and you do this.
*You understand so many words. It amazes me everyday the things you understand even though you can't say them just yet. You will follow simple commands when you want to.
*You like to point to body parts. You know head, hair, ears, belly button, tongue, arms, and toes on yourself. You will point to eyes, nose, and mouth on other people but not yourself.
*You LOVE to play outside. I just wish it wasn't so hot so we could stay out longer.
*You are like a little sponge---you learn so many new things each day. I love to sit around and watch you figure things out.
*You are BUSY, BUSY, BUSY!  You can't stay in one place for very long or play with one toy for very long. You are always on the go.
*You are quite the "spirited" little boy and you definitely do NOT like to share. You will take toys from other children but throw a fit when they take them from you.
*Toddler tantrums are a daily occurrence.
*You have started hitting and biting when you are mad or when we tell you no. I have no idea where you learned to do this but I hope it stops soon.
*You have just now started to experience separation anxiety.
*You still like your paci and lovey.
*You give the sweetest kisses. They are open mouth and very slobbery but I just LOVE them!
*You are the most precious little boy and I love you so much!

Some pics from today :)

This is what happens when I send Cason outside to play with daddy...
