Play Dough Turkeys

It was very cold outside this afternoon so we decided to stay in and make play dough turkeys. I used my favorite play dough recipe....

1 Cup of Flour
1 Cup Water
2 teaspoons Cream of Tarter
1/3 cup Salt
1 heaping Tablespoon baby oil or vegetable oil

Then I added in these spices from a gingerbread play dough recipe to add some scent...
  • 1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 tsp orange extract {optional}

I also added in a tiny bit of brown food coloring for color. Then, mix well and cook on low---stirring constantly until it all clumps together in a ball.

Then I gave them:
-Small pumpkins and leaves from the dollar bins at Target
-Fall cookie cutters
-Small and large feathers from Michaels
-Orange straws cut into thirds
-Googly eyes
-Plastic acorns

Corbin got bored with the play dough after a bit and moved on to sticking his feathers in the colander...

Last Teeth

Corbin is working on all 4 of his two year molars. I know it must be painful but I'm so glad after this he will be all done teething!!!!

Grapevine Aquarium

We went to the Sea Life Aquarium at the Grapevine Mall yesterday with the Kempsons. We had a great time and it wasn't crowded at all so that is always a plus. Every time we have been to the Dallas Aquarium it has been so crowded that it is hard to even walk AND I don't think the Dallas Aquarium is is near as child friendly as the one in Grapevine. The Grapevine Aquarium is smaller but they have a children's area with an indoor playground and a spot for kids to touch starfish and hermit crabs. Cason LOVED the hermit crab of all things!!! Corbin is a runner and I had to chase after him most of the time. He thinks its hilarious to run away from me as fast as he can when we are out in public (or really anytime). I think his favorite part was probably the indoor play area.

Cason and the hermit crab named Pumpkin...

Outside the aquarium they have a place where kids can jump---Madi and Cason loved it!

Sick Season

This blogger's post about people taking their sick kids out to play with other kids is hilarious! And I agree with her....if your kids are contagious and sick---please don't send them to school or take them to play dates / play areas where other kids are.

Happy Halloween!

The boys had a great time celebrating Halloween on Thursday! They started off the day wearing their Halloween pajamas to school for their PJ BOO parties. They got to trick-or-treat at school and have parties in their classrooms. I volunteered for Cason's party---his poor teachers had their hands full-----17 very energetic 4 year olds were very excited about Halloween!!! It was fun to see Cason interacting and having fun with his school friends.

This was Corbin's first year to trick-or-treat. Last year he just rode along in the stroller but this time he was on foot and had a great time chasing after the big kids and getting candy for his bucket. I was actually able to get several more pictures of Corbin than Cason because Cason was running way ahead of us trying to get as much candy as possible! They had a blast!

I need to give a big thank you to the  Kempsons for having us over to their brand new house for Halloween-----that's right we are officially neighbors---YEA!!!!
