Crockpot Applesauce

A couple of weeks ago Cason's class made crockpot applesauce at school. His teachers told me he loved it and asked for seconds and thirds! They sent home the recipe with all the kids so we are planning to try it out sometime in the next couple of weeks. I just thought I would pass along the recipe in case you would like to try it too :)

Crockpot Applesauce

10 peeled, thinly sliced apples (any type)
3/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 cup water

Add all ingredients to crockpot. Cook on low 6-8 hours or high 4-5 hours. Enjoy as is or serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

Enjoy!

Dinosaurs Live

Dinosaurs Live is back at the Heard Museum in McKinney from now until February 2, 2014. This is a such a fun exhibit for my two little dinosaur lovers. It's all outdoors so no need to worry about making too much noise and the trail is jogging stroller friendly. I took a non-jogging stroller today and it worked (there were several other moms with non-jogging strollers as well) but it would have been MUCH easier to navigate on the bumpy roads with a jogger. Click here for all the details of Dinosaurs Live. If you have a family plus membership to the Perot Museum, you can get into this museum free as well.

I thought Corbin might get scared when the dinosaurs roared but he was totally fine---he loved them. He waved and said hi to all the dinosaurs. He was a little unsure of the T-Rex at first but he didn't cry and he warmed up to him pretty quickly.

Me and My Boys

Scott went on a hunting trip all last week so it was just me and my boys. We stayed busy and had lots of fun hanging out. Here are a few pics I took with my phone...

We tried out Kenny's Burger Joint---the kids liked the food AND they give all the kids a free ice cream sundae so of course they loved that! Corbin is still obsessed with Ranch dip!

We visited the Perot Museum---the kids had tons of fun digging in the dirt for dinosaur bones and Cason loved racing the T-Rex :)

In other news.....Corbin had his 5th day of school today and he actually did a lot better. He was still crying and asking for his blanket when I dropped him off BUT he went the teacher willingly instead of being pried out of my arms. She also told me last week that he gets really upset when they wake him up from his nap so she said today she was just going to let him wake up on his own or I could wake him up when I got there. When I got there today he was NOT screaming and crying for the first time---she said they let him wake up on his own and that really seemed to help. Hopefully it will just keep getting better and better!

Here he is with his after school snack of peanut butter and apples-----he decided just eating the peanut butter off of a spoon was the best way to eat his snack.

Party Fun

Hudson and Luke celebrated their 4th birthday today! Cason and Corbin had tons of fun playing at the park, jumping around on the Fun Bus, eating pizza and cake, and hitting the pinata for candy! I took my camera but I only got 2 pictures the whole time we were there. Chasing two kids around the party solo doesn't allow for much picture taking time!

Happy Birthday Hudson and Luke!!!!!

Here are the boys playing on the "Fun Bus"---such a great idea!!!

First Work of Art

Corbin brought home his first piece of artwork from school this week. He was supposed to color the eye blue because he has blue eyes. You have to look closely but he did add some blue to his eye. He is still VERY upset at drop off and pick up but she said on Thursday he did much better during the day and actually played a lot so that is wonderful news. He has napped all 4 times----I am shocked! As soon as I pick him up he starts saying bye-bye very LOUDLY in his best country accent---I guess he just wants me to know it's time to go---Cason did that too his first year! He looks like such a big boy :)

First Day of School

The boys had their first day of school today. Cason did great and was as happy as can be all day! Corbin was not a happy camper---he was sad on and off all day. The good news is that there were parts of the day that he was okay AND they got him to take a nap on his nap mat which was surprising. I'm sure the first few weeks will be hard for him. I'm praying it gets better soon!

The boys and I went for an after school ice cream treat with Emma, Kate and their sweet mom Tara.  The kids had a great time eating ice cream and running around Braums. I'm so thankful Cason and Emma are in the same class again this year because they have so much fun together!
