Birthday party

Cason had a great birthday party yesterday even though he decided to skip his morning nap. Of course right as the party was about to start, he started rubbing his eyes and getting sleepy. Thankfully, once his friends got there, he was ready to play and eat cake. Thank you to all of our sweet family and friends for making his birthday so special. And a special thank you to our family that stayed afterwards and helped us clean up---it was very much appreciated!

We took soooooooo many pictures yesterday that I would never be able to get them all posted on this blog so I am giving a you a link to view them from my Facebook page below (this should work even if you are not a Facebook member)...

We took a video of Cason eating his cake that I will have to post later. It was so cute---he started out slow and then got really excited and into it!

Here are just a few...

Thanks Mimi and Gunk for my swing set :)

Birthday Slideshow

This is a slideshow of Cason's first year--it is super long (27 minutes). I know most of you who read this blog are not interested in watching a 27 minute video but I know the grandparents are so this is for them and anyone else who would like to see it--Enjoy :)

On a side note, little Cason got another tooth today---so now we have 6 teeth. I think this will be the last one for a little bit so maybe he will have some relief for a while :)

12 Months Old! Happy Birthday Cason!

I thought 12 months sounded younger than 1 year--LOL

Happy birthday to my sweet baby boy!  I can't believe a year ago we were at the hospital and Cason had just been born---it seems like it was just yesterday. I feel so blessed that I have been able to stay home with Cason this past year and share so many special memories and firsts with him.

I love this little boy more than I could have ever imagined possible. I thank God every single day for blessing us with this precious baby and trusting me to be his mother. A year ago, I didn't know what it would be like to have a baby in our home and now I can't imagine spending a single day without him. Motherhood is just the most amazing/wonderful experience and I couldn't be any happier! It is such a gift to experience the world all over again through a child's eyes!

Cason you are 12 months old---what have you been up to this month?

*You are wearing 18-24 month clothes
*You wear a size 4 diapers but I think you will be graduating to a 5 very soon.
*You are a great walker now and even attempt a little jog at times.
*You can get into a standing position without pulling up on something.
*You can say dada now--although I still don't think you know what it means
*You are pointing at everything--sometimes for us to tell you what it is, and sometimes for us to hand you something that you need--like your milk, but mostly it means pick me up and take me to the object I am pointing at because I want to touch it (and possibly even put it in my mouth)
*In the last week and a half, you have officially moved on to whole milk and sippy cups. You haven't had a bottle in several days and I don't think you have even noticed.
*You drink milk with each of your 3 meals and you eat very little baby food now.
*You used to eat ANYTHING we would give you but you are starting to get more opinionated. Lately, you really like to put something in your mouth and then take it out (or spit it out) and look at it. If you decide that you like it, you put in back in your mouth and eat away. If not, you just spit it out and look for something new to try. GROSS!
*Your favorite food is CHEESE---just like your mom
*You LOVE to play chase around the house
*You got three upper teeth this month---April 16, April 19, and May 1st
*You love to clap at everything and bang objects together.
*You are quite the expert at throwing a good temper tantrum when you don't get your way.
*You have the cutest laugh when we tickle you.
*You have yet to meet a stranger---I keep waiting for you to get stranger anxiety but it hasn't happened yet. You love all people!

Your Stats...
Weight: 26 lbs and 5.4 oz (90%)
Height: 31 inches (80%)
Head Circumference: 48.5 cm (95%)

We took Cason to the doctor today for his well visit. Poor guy had to have 3 shots on his birthday :(
He was quite the handful in the office---he was into everything and just couldn't sit still. The doctor even laughed and asked us if we can even get him to sit still long enough to read a book to him--LOL. Everything was great---Cason is a healthy little boy. He did still have a little fluid in his ears from his last ear infection so we are going back in 3 weeks to have it checked out again. Hopefully all the fluid will be gone by then---If not, we are going for an ENT consult.

Riding in his car seat facing forward for the first time...

Birthday Boy

He sure can throw a good fit...

Playing with his new toy from Erin's sweet mom Pam. Thank you Pam--Cason has been playing with his birthday cake all day :)

We gave him a piece of birthday cake today as a special treat and he LOVED it!

His last monthly picture. It sure is a good thing I bought this onesie in a size 18 months because a 12 month onesie wouldn't have made it this long. It was a struggle to get him to lay there and be still so this is the only decent picture I could get.

Tired of taking pictures...

A year in review...

He LOVES his new toy...

Happy Mother's Day

This was my first official Mother's Day since Cason was born the day after Mother's Day last year and it was such a great day!  It is past my bed time and there isn't enough room on this blog to express in words how much I love this little boy and how much he fills my heart with joy---SO,  I will leave you with a video I took of him tonight before he went to bed...

(Happy Mother's Day to all moms, moms-to-be, and moms at heart!)

My Little Baby

My little baby is growing up too fast! He will be one on Tuesday and I just can't believe how fast this year has flown by! We had his one year pictures taken at the Arboretum this past weekend and we can't wait to see how they all turned out. I've added a couple that she sent us as a "sneak peak". He just looks so big!!!

He has had some big changes this past week. He is now officially bottle and formula free----I could just cry! We took him to the doctor last week for an ear infection and they told us since he would be one so soon to go ahead and start the weaning process to whole milk and sippy cups. The first day did not go so well but the whole process took less than a week. He did not like the taste of whole milk at first so we had to mix it with formula. We have been reducing the amount of formula each day and as of this morning he is taking the whole milk with no formula just fine :) He hasn't had a bottle in 2 days so the sippy cup went over well too :)

Dear Cason,
Stop growing up so fast!

Love, Mommy

Birthday party, teeth, and standing

We went to our first birthday party yesterday for cute little Madi. It was a great birthday and the decorations  were super cute! She had a Candy Land theme so there was tons of candy---perfect for any sweet tooth!

Madi has such a cute tutu on!!!

Here is a pic of all the kids. This was hilarious trying to do. First of all we waited until the very end to take Cason over there because we knew he would not stay sitting down. Then, when we did take him over there none of the older kids wanted to hold on to him---ha! They were all shaking their heads no (probably because he is so big). At first sweet little Harrison said no but he decided finally that he would hold on to Cason and I know that was a tough job. Naturally, Cason was trying to get down the whole time and was even successful once. Harrison was such a sweet little boy to try to hold on to him!

Here are a few pics of Cason at the house the other day in his little basketball outfit :)

This is what happens when we try to sit him in this or any other chair---He does not like to sit still for even a second!

While I was running a couple of errands yesterday Scott called to tell me that Cason has finally discovered how to stand up on his own without pulling up on something. I hate that I missed it but Scott got it on video and now he can do it all the time :)

Last but not least, his 3rd tooth in two weeks cut through yesterday. Now we are just waiting on the last one.
